La Serie Aebersold e' composta di un volume con le parti per tutti gli strumenti (in chiave di violino, basso, Bb ed Eb) e di un CD con la sezione ritmica (separazione stereo: canale sinistro basso e batteria, canale destro piano o chitarra e batteria) che suona "live" gli accompagnamenti relativi agli standards jazz, ai brani di un determinato autore o alle esercitazioni specifiche.
Non si deve far altro che aggiungere la propria improvvisazione. La separazione stereo permette inoltre di eliminare uno strumento e sostituirsi con il proprio, per imparare ad accompagnare all'interno di una sezione ritmica.
