Frank Zappa, un uomo la cui musica rendeva omaggio a figure classiche contemporanee come Stravinsky e Stockhausen, così come al doo-wop della fine degli anni '50 e al rock pesante con la chitarra che dominò il pop negli anni '70.
Zappa era un autore satirico con uno spiccato senso dell'umorismo e testi dal gusto discutibile, ma fu anche uno degli artisti più prolifici del suo tempo, registrando circa 50 album durante i suoi 40 anni nella musica.
